One of the greatest seasons of all PR history began when the Turbo rangers ventured into space to find a way to regain their lost powers. They come across a spaceship and are drawn into it unwillingly, once they're in they have little choice but to see what it's all about and decide to look around.

We meet Andros, who has been the Red Astro Ranger for over two years on his own, searching for Zordon and his missing sister, while fighting against the evil he finds on the way, including the new Princess of Evil, Astronema. He returns from infiltrating a meeting and finds the rangers on his ship, immediately assuming of course that they're his enemy. It takes a long time for them to convince him otherwise.

Even when Andros realizes they're on his side, he's unwilling after years of fighting alone to let anyone join him. It's reluctantly that he decides to give them a chance, and it takes some time before he starts to loosen up around them, as much as they try to get to know him. It's slowly that he begins to open up, but he does.

The new team takes a while getting used to each other, but they do, and they become very close, each for different reasons. The Turbo rangers got into more than they'd probably imagined, but they don't regret it. It isn't long before they find out about Andros' sister, Karone, who was kidnapped when she was only a few years old. Andros has been searching for her since, but didn't want to tell the others about her for his own reasons.

Ashley was attracted to Andros from the beginning, seeing something in him that no one else could. She tried to get close to him, and he hesitantly let her. Their relationship was slow, unsure, but definite.

They go through a lot together, and then they learn another of Andros' secrets, that of Zhane, the silver ranger. Zhane fought with Andros on KO-35, they were best friends and a team together defending the planet. He was nearly killed during the last battle, and was placed in cryogenic stasis on the megaship after the fall. The machine kept him alive, healing him slowly until two years later when he finally woke, and joined the team in their fight. When they meet up with some of the survivors of KO-35, Zhane stays for a while to help his people out.

Despite the years, Andros never gives up his search for his sister, and he finds her in the most unlikely of ways. During a fight, he tears the necklace from Astronema's neck and sees his own picture in it. She's been told a much different story, and it takes a lot before she realizes it's true. She's unwilling to give up what she has at first, but slowly begins to come around and helps the rangers as she can. Finally, she joins their side.

Unfortunately, the good times are short-lived. Astronema is taken while sneaking onto the Dark Fortress on mission, and is brainwashed into joining evil again, and gathering the forces for the final battle.

The Alliance of Evil bands together under Dark Specter and begins an invasion of the entire galaxy like nothing before. It's hopeless from the beginning, and the rangers know it as they fight, six against a universe. But they don't give up, desperate and determined to find a way.

Andros still believes he can get to Astronema, and decides to go alone to the Dark Fortress. Astronema finds him, and he tries to talk to her as she attacks him, but she won't listen. He won't fight her and she nearly wins, but a shot from her staff ricochets on his spiral saber and hits her, killing her.

Andros is devastated, but the shock of his loss makes him realize what he must now do, and he destroys Zordon, shattering his energy tube. It wins them the war, destroying everything evil in the galaxy and restoring all that has good in it. The rangers watch in confusion on earth as their enemies crumble into dust before them.

The Dark Fortress returns to Earth and Andros walks out, carrying the body of Karone. He sets her down and cries over her, finally feeling the cost of the last years, and perhaps as a reward for everything he's sacrificed, Karone is returned to him.

Andros, Karone and Zhane return to KO-35 with the surviving colonists, and say goodbye to the rest of the rangers. But in the end, they decide it's just not right. There's nothing there for them, they've made themselves a new home and a new family.
