With the Command Center destroyed and their ranger powers gone, the
premiere of Zeo doesn't look good for the six teenagers. It's a bleak future they look to. But as always, fate turns around
for them, and they discover the Zeo crystal intact under the rubble of the Command Center. It's power rebuilds their base
around the new Power Chamber, and gives them the ability to become the Zeo rangers.
Unfortunately, there are only five crystals, and six rangers. Billy is the noble one, and
gives his to Tanya, willing to stay off the team and help in the other ways that only he can. Tommy is finally given the coveted
red ranger position, one he's deserved for a long time, and Rocky is given blue, with Adam now green. Tanya becomes the new
yellow ranger.
Life continues much as normal for the six, the new threat of the Machine Empire isn't enough
to daunt the veterans of the fight. They go through a lot together, including many surprising and unwelcome changes, but they're
up to it all.
It's a time of definite change for the new red ranger, the first one being the worst. He
recieves a letter from Kimberly, ending their relationship. It's heartbreaking for him, but all for the better in the end,
which takes him a long time to realize.
Tommy also meets his only brother for the first time not long after. David and Tommy were
separated when they were babies and grew up apart, but circumstances bring them together again. David is a welcome addition
for a while, and when the mysterious gold ranger appears, he's the first guess as to his identity. When they discover
it's not him, they're thoughts turn to Billy.
The gold ranger is found out only when he's in trouble, and revealed to be Trey of Triforia,
a race of trifold beings existing in three entities but only one body. However Trey is injured and he splits into three separate
beings, Trey of Heart, Trey of Courage, and Trey of Wisdom. He cannot hold the gold powers until he is unified, and asks the
rangers to help and find a holder until he can take them back.
Their first choice is of course Billy. Although it was his choice and he doesn't regret it,
everything inside Billy wants to be a ranger again. It seems only fitting that he'd be given another chance. But his body
is too unstable after the device he used to age himself in the previous season, and he can't take them.
But Tommy knows what to do, and without worry he leaves saying he'll get the new gold ranger
for them. He returns with an old friend, Jason Scott, in one of the most surprising turns of the series. Jason recieves the
gold powers readily, happy to be back in the action.
Zeo is a season of many relationships as well as surprises and other changes. Tommy slowly
gets over what happened with Kimberly, and begins to see in Katherine what he never did before. Eventually he asks her out,
and they go on a date. Tanya and Adam flirt for a while, and have an unnofficial relationship, it's clear how they feel about
each other. Jason meets a girl named Emily and falls for her like we've never seen. Rocky has a couple flings with a
blind girl and a computer nerd, and Billy meets someone as well . . .
Things are going well for all of them, but not for long. They get a surprising call from
the command center and go there to see that Billy has aged about 70 years, and is only getting older. The only way to reverse
it is to go to Aquitar with the Alien Rangers and be cured there. A young woman from the planet comes to take care of him,
Cestria, and once again we see Billy's charm work it's magic, even looking 90 years old. It seems to be more this time somehow,
and in the end he decides to stay on Aquitar with her, and start a life of his own there.
More trouble arises when Jason gets sick, and no one knows what's going on until it's nearly
too late. His body can no longer maintain the gold powers, and he has to prematurely give them back to Trey. It's a dangerous
process, but it's the only way. When it's over, Trey is united and a ranger again, and Jason is left well, but no longer a
part of the fight. It's a bittersweet time, and a difficult one for him, but he has other things to look to now, like a new
relationship.
The Machine Empire is inadvertently defeated, but the rangers know it's not over. They're
ready for the next battle whenever it might come. None of them knew what it would be.
